Yacht Trace in Action: From 900 to 4,000 Nautical Miles

Real Superyachts. Real-World Monitoring supports superyacht chase boat monitoring. With Proven Technology and captains support.

Across a 4,000-nautical-mile Pacific crossing, Yacht Trace supports captains and crews. Additionally, it helps reduce risk on the voyage through better planning and situational awareness. For crew members, it clarifies priorities during complex maneuvers. Yacht Trace also supports safer tender handling, equipment checks, and route choices.

In the Mediterranean, extended towing operations present additional demands on crews. Yacht Trace helps by consolidating data, guiding decisions, and reducing tender losses. This combination supports superyacht chase boat monitoring, safer navigation and more informed, timely choices at sea. Owners and captains benefit from consistent risk management across voyages.

Developed specifically for the superyacht industry, Yacht Trace provides independent, two-way monitoring.

Additionally, it enables monitoring between the mothership and its tenders, chase boats, and the wider fleet.

Our systems are already being used aboard a growing number of superyachts.

Moreover, valuable feedback from captains and engineers continues to shape the development of our technology.

MY 2112 — 4,000 Nautical Miles Across the Pacific

Protecting a 48ft Viking tender on an extraordinary ocean crossing.

One of our most demanding projects involved MY 2112, towing a 48ft Viking tender approximately 4,000 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean.

For this extended passage, Yacht Trace supplied its dedicated tender monitoring system alongside a bespoke propeller shaft monitoring solution.

The additional shaft monitoring was designed to detect unwanted shaft rotation during towing, helping the crew identify potential risks to the tender’s propulsion system and reduce the likelihood of mechanical damage.

This project demonstrates how Yacht Trace combines its core monitoring technology with bespoke engineering solutions to address the challenges of long-distance superyacht tender towing.

MY Andiamo — 900 Nautical Miles of Monitoring

Supporting long-distance tender towing with continuous monitoring.

Under Captain Jonathan Chell, MY Andiamo provides another excellent example of Yacht Trace operating during an extended offshore passage.

During a 900-nautical-mile journey involving tender towing, Yacht Trace provided monitoring capabilities including tender positioning, towing status, battery condition and bilge activity.

Our dedicated, encrypted two-way RF connection operates independently of AIS, cellular networks and Wi-Fi, with Iridium satellite backup.

Captain Jonathan’s operational experience highlights the value of continuous monitoring, allowing crews to identify developing issues and make informed decisions during demanding towing operations.

MY Surina — Supporting Yacht Trace From the Beginning

Captain and crew feedback helping shape our technology.

A special mention goes to MY Surina and Bryan Antill, one of the earliest supporters of Yacht Trace.

As our first customer, Bryan put the system through demanding real-world testing, providing valuable operational feedback that helped us refine and develop the technology.

This close collaboration with experienced superyacht professionals remains central to how Yacht Trace develops its monitoring solutions.

MY Lalabe — Practical Technology for Superyacht Crews

Simple installation, independent monitoring and operational flexibility.

We are also delighted to have MY Lalabe, the 35-metre Van der Valk superyacht, among our Yacht Trace users. Matt is also an ambassador.

Captain Matt Allen has been a strong advocate of the system, particularly its straightforward installation and ease of use.

With equipment designed for crew installation and a portable mothership unit, Yacht Trace can be introduced without extensive modifications to existing yacht systems.

More Than Tender Tracking

Yacht Trace is designed to help crews identify developing problems before they result in damage or loss.

Our technology offers:

  • Tender and chase boat monitoring — positioning, distance and tow-break alerts
  • Bilge and battery monitoring — early warnings of potentially developing problems
  • Pitch, roll and motion monitoring — additional information about tender conditions
  • Propeller shaft monitoring — bespoke monitoring of shaft activity during towing
  • Jet Ski and whole-fleet tracking — visibility across multiple yacht assets
  • Chart plotter integration — fleet positioning information displayed on compatible navigation systems
  • Geofencing and anti-theft alerts — monitoring tenders when at rest or away from the mothership

Unlike systems dependent on AIS or mobile connectivity, Yacht Trace uses its own encrypted two-way RF communications, with Iridium satellite backup.

The system is accepted by major marine insurers and can support greater flexibility in towing arrangements and insurance terms, subject to individual insurer approval.

Developed With Captains, For Captains

From the early support of MY Surina to the operational experience aboard MY Andiamo, MY Lalabe and MY 2112, feedback from captains and engineers continues to influence our development.

As Yacht Trace expands into whole-fleet monitoring, Jet Ski tracking, chart plotter integration and bespoke engineering applications, our focus remains the same:

Practical, independent technology that helps crews identify risks earlier and protect valuable superyacht assets.
